To all those who have to wear steel toed boots to work ………..?

with 5 comments

My husband has to wear steel toed boots to work and I was wondering if anyone else has the same problem that he has. It seems everytime he puts on a new pair of socks and wears them one time at the end of the day they have a hole in the toe. He says it’s becuse of the steel toed boots. Do you have this same problem?
He is on his feet 12 hours a day 5 days a week. I don’t know if this is why or not. It is just about time for him to buy a new pair so he is going to take extra care in picking out this pair.

Thanks to each of you for taking the time to answer this question. You have been so much help to me and to him.

Thank you again!

Does anyone know of any comfortible steel toed boots?

with 2 comments

At my engineering job I am required to wear steel toed boots and the pair I have now are just horribly uncomfortable and makes for a very long 12 hour night. I was wondering if anyone knew of any very good and comfortable brand of steel toed boots? Thanks very much!

§Jodee§
Oh yeah I completely agree with you all about the whole 12 hour thing, very true! However I will only be out there for about 30 minutes and can just feel how uncomfortable the shoes are. I have had many jobs in the best where I’ve stood on my feet for 12 hours a day and was able to wear sneakers. Yes my feet hurt at the end of the night but not at the beginning of the shift.

Is it safe to wear steel toed boots?

with 6 comments

I’ve entered a police explorer program and I need to bye boots as a part of my uniform. I was told by my captain not to wear them because if I’m out on the street directing traffic or something and someone runs over my feet in a car then the weight of that car will cut my toes off.

Is that true or not?

But I heard that they do protect you; for instance, my dad when he was a policeman said that he was moving a washing machine while wearing steel toed boots and it fell and he didn’t feel a thing. Also, I think the chances of a car running over your toes is very minimal and the chances of anything else hitting your feet (that steel toed boots could protect you from) is high. What do you think?

Steel-toed boots in cold weather?

with 3 comments

If I wear a pair of thick wool socks, is walking around in the snow with steel-toed boots going to be a problem? I’m wondering if the steel will make my toes too cold.

Are steel toed hiking boots worth buying?

with 7 comments

I have been wanting a new pair of hiking boots, but haven’t had the money. I just got a job that requires me to have steel toed boots. The job is only for a few weeks, but I may be required to wear them on other jobs in the future. Regardless of which style I get, I will most likely be buying Red Wing boots. On their website, I see they have steel toed hiking boots. What is the purpose of a steel toed hiking boot? Why would a hiker need to have steel toed boots? Wouldn’t that just be more weight? I see that some of their hiking boots have aluminum toes, claiming to be 33% lighter than steel with the same protection. Would these boots be good potential hiking boots as well as suitable for construction or should I just focus on work boots and buy myself some hiking boots at a later date?

Vegan Steel-Toed Boots?

with 3 comments

I am going to do an archaeological dig in two weeks and they require having waterproof steel-toed boots. I am a vegan and really don’t want to have to resort to purchasing leather goods, so I was wondering if anon knows of a good pair of men’s, vegan, waterproof, steel-toed boots that I could buy? A link or name of a store that sells them would be appreciated. Thank you.

Are steel toed boots rockabilly?

with 3 comments

Ok so Ive got most of the rockabilly onsomble figured out but the shoes are always up in the air. Theres really nowhere good to buy creepers locally, and I have never had good luck buying shoes on the internet.

I was just wondering if steel toed boots (just the standard black leather boots) were "cool" to wear along with the straight leg jeans, Dickies shirt, wallet chain, red hanky hanging from the back pocket.
I just realized I spelled ensemble phonetically…

Where can I get steel toes installed in regular boots?

with one comment

I have a pair of boots, and they’re not steel toed, and I need steel toed boots for my job. There’s a lot of wiggle room in the toe area, but where can I get steel toes done? I know people get them done, but I’m not sure where to look.

I have to wear steel toed boots for work for work this summer…?

with 3 comments

And they end up messing up my toenails, scrunching them up, and grinding at them. Most of my shoes do this, but the steel toed boots are the worst. Is there anything that I can get to help prevent this. I can’t get new boots because they’re all the same and they’re incredibly expensive anyway, about 0. My Dad has worn steel toed boots for work for nearly 20 years and his toes now have strange absesses and deformities. We both have Morton’s toe, the second toe is larger than the first. What can I do?

How to extend the longetivity of steel toed boots?

with 4 comments

I recently purchased a black pair of leather steel toed boots and work in a mine environment, mostly in an office but with several hours out in the pit near the blast holes where there will be some fine grain sand from drilling.

How can I make these 90 dollar boots last long?
I have to wear them. I could get a fine from MSHA (part of OSHA) for not wearing them, and could get fired by my employer for it – they are extremely serious about safety.

Are steel toed boots okay for street motorcycle riding?

with 6 comments

I remember my dad saying something about steel toed boots but I forgot =\ I went and checked out all the stores and got a pair with good ankle support but they also have steel toes. Would this interfere with the shifter or anything? I figure if anything my dirt bike shoes have the steel toes too. Any opinion?

Is there any company that does not make steel toed boots out of leather?

with 4 comments

I have been in the construction field for 4 years now and I have not been able to find a pair that is animal-friendly. It sucks because my steel toed boots are the only leather/suede/silk thing that I own.
