Steel toe work boot blog re home improvement

Month-old steel-toe work boots have several “cuts/nicks” especially around toe and heel of boot. Typical?

These are my first pair of work boots EVER and so I have no idea what to expect as far as wear and tear goes. I work in a steel fabrication shop and I handle everything from metal to wood (especially sharp-edged laser-cut metal to nail-studded pallets. How can I prevent further nicking, cutting, and abrasion, or is this just the way it is?

  1. You are in a rough work environment so cuts and nicks are unavoidable. I would use saddle soap on the boots occasionally to keep the leather pliable and resilient, though. If it gets really dried out, it is more susceptible to nicks, etc.
